The Bitter End – Nov. 24 2007

Despite collective issues including, but not necessarliy limited to  bad oysters,  bad midtown traffic, a bad GPS (that thinks Bleecker Street is is Queens–which in turn caused an atomic melt down)  and a bad gear bag that attacked the drummer during load in,  all band members were present and accounted for by the time the first note was played by by the T.L.B. at their first outing at the world famous Bitter End.

The set flew by, featuring the newly recorded demo tracks “Beautiful” and “Old School Feeling.”   Too bad the CDs didn’t make it in time for the show,  but come check us out at the next show on December 27th and get one to take home on us!

Thanks to all the regulars and newcomers who made the trip out to come support us and who hung around after the set.   The place looked packed from the stage.

Totally worth checking out

People, I’ve become hopelessly addicted to World Passport.  What’s World Passport?  It’s a website/podcast that regularly posts mixtapes of African, Latin, and Caribbean music from the past and the present.  I’m a huge fan of their “Vive L’Afrijazz” and “Afrobeat Fever” series, but there’s a ton more to be found there.

As a bassist, this is the stuff I listen to for inspiration.  As a human being, this is the stuff I listen to to make me smile.  I have no idea what most of the artists are singing about, but the music transcends.

Dig it.
